A Banal Statue in Bali

So that’s the end of the Australia photos for a while. I left Australia for Bali on June 29 and spent three and a half weeks there. Over the next couple weeks I’ll be posting images from that part of my travels.

Unlike the majority of Indonesia, which is primarily Muslim, Bali has remained Hindu. Temples are everywhere all over the island with small family temples often included as an important part of the family compound. Small offerings are made to the gods daily and are placed anywhere it is believed a god might be residing. When walking about, one has to be careful not to step on the offerings that are placed in seemingly random locations.
