Running Beneath the Monument

The New York Time Magazine has an interview with photographer Sebasti√£o Salgado regarding his recent project photographing landscapes of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Shot entirely in black and white, and a step away from his usual subjects, he’s captured some amazing landscape images. Be sure and go through the slideshow.

In a previous post I told a little bit about Liberty Plaza at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial monument in Taipei. The monument itself is a rather imposing structure that dominates one end of the plaza. Inside the monument is a large statue of Chiang Kai-shek, president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) following World War II.
