The God is the Temple

Exciting! In just a few days I’ll be launching my first ebook. Stay tuned for all the details!

Today’s Photo

I’m continuing my Taiwan temple theme for a few more days. And yes, this is a temple. It’s built right into the base of this imposing figure of Xuantian Shang-di, Supreme Emperor of the Dark Heaven, and guardian of the north. North of what, I’m not really sure. The temple/statue is built at the end of a pier that extends out into the Lotus Pond, just north of Kaohsiung. There are a number of temples, pagodas, and pavilions in the vicinity of the Lotus Pond, with several of them vying for the title of Supreme Emperor of Gaudiness. Indeed, it can feel a bit Disneyesque at times when walking around this area.

I love how colorful this one is, it really gives this place it’s own life.
