The Quiet Courtyard

Just another one of my occasional reminders that if you enjoy this blog, you might consider signing up to have these posts delivered to you via email or RSS. I promise I won’t spam you! A variation of this message is included at the bottom of every post but I imagine a lot of you probably don’t bother to scroll down that far. I suspect a large majority simply look at the pretty picture and move on.

I’m starting a short series on temples in Taiwan. There’s numerous temples in Taiwan of all sizes. Most seemed to be based on some variant of Buddhism, but there were a few of other religious genres as well, including Confucianism. In contrast to many other temples, the Confucius variety were relatively stark, bare and simple without a lot of ornamentation. They were also quieter, with less people roaming about.
