The Crystal Mosque, or Masjid Kristal, is located in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. The mosque is relatively new, having opened in 2008. The reflective, faceted surface of the domes are quite dramatic at night when illuminated, but are almost as striking during the day. The mosque is on the grounds of the (somewhat cheesy) Islamic Heritage Park which has many large-scale models of famous mosques from around the world. The Crystal Mosque and the park are easily accessible by bus from central Kuala Terengganu, but if you plan to stay after dark, past the Islamic Heritage Park’s closing time, make sure you arrange for a taxi to pick you up. Otherwise, it’s a long walk back to town.
