Today’s Photo

Here’s something from the El Chiflón waterfall park in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. This is a place where it would have been easy to spend an entire afternoon playing around getting images like this. Alas, I was there with on a day tour (something I only do occasionally) and only had about an hour.

Blue Rocks, Brown River

Today’s Photo

Blue rocks, brown river. Usually it’s the other way around. However, Taroko Gorge in eastern Taiwan is famous for its multi-colored, marble-walled canyon which often has a blueish hue. The beauty of the colors and patterns created by the marble are one of the reasons this area has become one of Taiwan’s most popular tourist attractions. The brown waters are apparently normal for this region.

Boating the Underground

Boats pass each other at the Subterrainian River National Park in Palawan, Philippines – a World Heritage site. While the overall trip to get there by bus and boat was interesting, the river and cave itself I found to be rather underwhelming. I find this often to be the case with hyped up tourist attractions and sights. It’s worth going but I would recommend taking the public transport for the cultural experience.
